This is a series of images I took of my sister Hannah at the age of fourteen, a couple years ago in Elliot Lake, On.  Hannah has been by far my best subject, and I love photographing her.  She is very quiet usually, but still has a surprisingly strong opinion about things if you ask her. There is something very interesting about being in your teens, it is sort of an awkward middle stage between childhood and young adulthood.  You are just starting to figure out who you are and what you stand for, how you approach the word around you, and how to interact socially.  This is why it is so much fun for me to photograph her, she is constantly changing and I want to document her growth.  For this series, I wanted to photograph her in an earthy setting, she has always been very in tune with nature, and has a growing passion for the environment.  Throughout the series she is calm and tranquil, but still very mindful as well, which is quite fitting to her character.  In one shot, I photograph her from above and my hair falls into the frame.  This holds a great deal of meaning for me because I see a lot of myself in her.  We are constantly being told by others that we are a striking resemblance of each other, which I like.  As much as I am her older sister, I do look up to her and I am proud of how she holds herself as a young woman.  To me, she is the essence of pure raw beauty.
