Daydream is a series of images of my younger sister Hannah that was inspired by an image I came across of Iva Florence, called "The California Prize Beauty".  This image is from a Collection Of Exotic Dance From Burlesque To Clubs by Charles H. McCaghy.

I wanted to capture her right on the cusp of becoming a young woman.  Girls at the age of fifteen are considered to be children today, but in a different time period, a young girl at Hannah's age might be getting married or even being pressured into having children.  I wanted to explore that idea in a short series of portraits, keeping the colours very neutral and letting her expressions hold most of the viewers attention.  The last shot in the series was in reference to a famous shot in one of my favourite TV series', Twin Peaks.  At the beginning of the show, the body of Laura Palmer, a teenage girl and catalyst of the series, washes up on shore wrapped in plastic.  Laura represents purity in youth, that has been tainted by evil and ugliness which lies in our society.
